Week of April 25

Kindergarten Connection

Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa

Last Week

I am so excited to report that our class is in 1st place in the Y5's-2 grade Mileage Club lap competition!! We were disappointed that we were unable to add to our total on Friday due to the weather. We have Monday, Wednesday and Friday of next week to hold on to the lead. If we do, we get a traveling trophy and an ice cream party! 😋🍦

We said good-bye to our Sam on Friday. His family is traveling to India for the remainder of the school year. We were sad to see him go. We are happy to know that his family will return this summer and we will see him back at Brown in the fall. We wish Sam and his family the best while they are away.

Snack and Leaders

Your child will come home with the Leader bag the night before his/her leader day. There is a notebook inside with directions for sharing both a snack with the class and a Show and Tell item. Please refer to the calendar in the back of your child's take home folder for leader and other important dates.

Due to allergies, please refrain from sending snacks that contain any kind of nut. If you are able to send Gluten free snacks that would be great too. Thank you!

We will snack in the morning each day. It is not necessary for you to send a snack with your child, as the leader provides it each day.  Thank you for sending a leak-proof water bottle with your child each day.

Next Week

The Positivity Project trait next week is Purpose.

My plan is to take the Reading portion of the NWEA test this week (4/25-29) and the Math portion the following week. I intend to do this in smaller groups this time to see how it goes. My hope is that I will be able to help them remain focused better in smaller groups.  PLEASE be sure that your child's computer is fully charged each day. We will be testing first thing in the morning so we must have computers charged and ready. Thank you for your attention to this important detail each evening.

The 3 D Shape Museum is open with plenty of room for more items. If you and your child would like to "loan" an item or 2 to our museum it would be great. The shapes we are learning are Spheres, Cylinders, Cubes and Cones. Please be sure to have your child's name on the item in order to have it returned. Thank you!

Mileage Club has taken on a new look this spring. Please watch this video for specific information. https://www.wevideo.com/view/2643955701

Tuesday, April 26-Share Our Stories event. This is a first for Brown School and we can't wait. We look forward to learning from our Brown School families about cultures of many kinds. Mrs. Bawks' blog has more details regarding this neat event.

Our next Guest Readers will be Mr. and Mrs. Steeves (Anna's grandparents) on Wednesday, April 27 at 3:15. Please bring 3-4 books to share with the class. We look forward to this fun time each week. 😀
