Due to allergies, please refrain from sending snacks that contain any kind of nut. If you are able to send Gluten free snacks that would be great too. Thank you!

Next Week

I will be sending homework calendars for the summer months. Please be sure to work on

reading (Core 5, Raz-kids) and math skills (IXL, SplashLearn, Happy Numbers) over the summer. If your

child needs to be moved to the next level in Raz, e-mail me and I will do it right away. Children typically

lose knowledge over the summer if parents are not intentional about keeping that from happening.

Thank you for keeping the learning going ☺.

The students will be given the opportunity to choose several more books from the library. They have done

a massive "spring clean," and are offering the extra copies and outdated ones to all of us 😀. I will also

be sending some books home with your child. We hope this helps to keep reading alive and well

throughout the summer.

Please continue to work on reading (both reading to your child and listening to him/her read) and sight words each day. As mentioned above, it really makes a difference in reading and writing achievement.

Tuesday, June 7-Class End of the Year Party

Wednesday, June 8-All School Picnic

Thursday, June 9-1/2 day

Friday, June 10-Last 1/2 day of Kindergarten 😢

This is my last newsletter of the year. It is hard to believe that the year has come to an end. Each day when

we count the days left on the calendar we all have a mixture of excitement and sadness. It has truly been

a wonderful year. Thank you for entrusting me with your precious children. I have been blessed to spend

the year with them and also to meet all of you parents. I will look forward to watching your children grow

as they move through Brown School and beyond ☺.

Have a wonderful summer!!

Week of May 30

Kindergarten Connection

Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa

Last Week

I hope you have all had a nice, long weekend celebrating Memorial Day. At least to this point, we could not have asked for better weather. What a great taste of summer we have been given. 🌞

Thank you for your attention to turning in your child's computer, case and charger. We just need 2 more chargers and we will be all set. We will continue to use them at school until the end of the year. Remember though that your child has access to most of our school sites all summer long. Please take advantage of this.

You can find all of them on our Media Center Symbaloo.  Brown School Media Center/Symbaloo Any of the sites we have used as well as any  others on there. The only one you won't find in the Symbaloo is "Kodable." You will need to scroll down from the Symbaloo under Media Center Resources to Mrs. DeLapa's Kodable.  Here is the link, but it might be easier to remember it is on the Media Center page.  https://game.kodable.com/class/SJBears

There is a lot of good stuff here to keep the learning going over the summer.

Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa

Last Week

We all enjoyed the Breakfast with my Main Character on Tuesday. Thank you for making the effort to come. The kiddos really love those days and remember them. It worked out very well to have it outside this year. I'm sure we will do that again. Everything flowed so nicely with all the space.

As you heard from Mrs. Bawks, all computers, chargers and sleeves should be turned in on Monday, May 23rd. We will continue to use them at school, but it is necessary to begin the process of getting them all checked in. Thank you for remembering to include the chargers on Monday (tomorrow).

Kindergarten Connection

Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa

Last Week

If you have not been at school in the last few weeks, you probably have not seen our new Sensory Track. This is something we have been hoping for and working on for quite some time. There are stickers on the floor and walls that create a specific movement track down the hallway. It is to be done quietly, 1 person at a time. This allows children to take a break and re-energize their minds for learning. We gave it a try as a class last week to be sure we all knew how to go through it. Be sure to ask your child about our new Sensory Track.

Here is the link to our introduction to the Track. Sensory Track Demo Video

Our first Brown School Art Show was on Thursday after school. Several of our families attended, which was fun. The art work will be up in all our hallways until June 1. Feel free to stop to see it if you like. Our Art teachers and student artists are amazing!! 🎨

Kindergarten Connection

Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa

Last Week

We sure enjoyed the school wide Dance Party on Tuesday for running our school goal of laps. Due to the weather it was in the Gym. It was still loads of fun dancing with Mrs. Bawks, Mr. Pratley and all the grades! We loved the Ice cream treat we received too! Be sure to take a look at the trophy we won in our classroom. We are quite proud of it 😊.

Our trip to Sarett was great! We learned about many different animals that live in our Michigan forests. During the hikes we learned many plants and saw signs of animals in action.

All NWEA testing is complete. It is a good feeling for us all 😊. Results will come to you with your child's final progress report in June.

Happy, happy Mother's Day to all the mothers and significant grown ups in our lives! I hope you realized how important and loved you are ❤!

(I hope all the gifts made it home in one piece.)

Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa

Last Week

I am sure you have heard that our class won the Mileage Club lap competition for the Y5's-2 grade group. We were more than excited and look forward to our Pajama day on Tuesday, Ice Cream treat, receiving the traveling trophy and a whole school dance party in the afternoon! What a fun day it will be! 😋🍦

We finished the Reading NWEA test last week. The children worked hard and tried their best on this. Results will come to you with your child's final progress report in June.

We launched 2 new Math apps last week. The children are enjoying both and Ms. B and I love the practice and reinforcement they provide. Both Happy Numbers and SplashLearn can be found in Clever. You must go to my "L. DeLapa's page" (icon is yellow with a teal Owl on it). Once there, you will see both apps.

The Happy Numbers class code is 992150. All students have a password of 123, which should fill in automatically.

SplashLearn will allow the students to choose their names, click on "From my teacher," and then choose from the skills listed. Let me know what you think of these once you have tried them.
