Kindergarten Connection
Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa
Last Week
What a difference a day makes in this weather! Please try to look at the forecast before helping your child to choose outdoor clothes for the day. It looks like we will continue to need snow gear for a while. I know we all want the children to be comfortable while outside.
I placed the March Leader and Events calendar in the back of each child's folder. The March homework and Book-It calendars came home as well. Your child may turn in his/her February homework calendar any time for a trip to the treasure chest.
The book orders sent home on Friday should be placed by Monday, March 7th. Of course, there is no obligation to order. This is strictly a service to you and your child. 📖
Snack and Leaders
Your child will come home with the Leader bag the night before his/her leader day. There is a notebook inside with directions for sharing both a snack with the class and a Show and Tell item. Please refer to the calendar in the back of your child's take home folder for leader and other important dates.

Due to allergies, please refrain from sending snacks that contain any kind of nut. If you are able to send Gluten free snacks that would be great too. Thank you!
We will snack in the morning each day. It is not necessary for you to send a snack with your child, as the leader provides it each day. Thank you for sending a leak-proof water bottle with your child each day.

Next Week
We look forward to Elliott and Kiersten returning to school early this week. We have missed them. We hope that we have all our classmates at school next week. We always celebrate when we do.
The Positivity Project trail next week is Enthusiasm. Enthusiasm is approaching life with excitement and energy. You energize people around you.
Mr. Calderwood will be our Guest Reader on Wed. 3/2. Please come at 3:15 and bring 2 or 3 books to read to the class. We can't wait!
Friday is a 1/2 day of school and the last day of Trimester 2! Progress reports will be sent home the following week. Just a reminder that all grades are given with the end of the year goal in mind. Don't be concerned if your child receives a 1 or 2 in an area such as sight words. By the end of the year I hope each student knows most of the 56 kindergarten sight words. It is okay if your child is not there yet. It is important though to practice them each day even if just for 5-10 minutes. The reading confidence that is gained knowing these words is amazing.
Friday, March 4th is the Brown School Variety Show. We will all go by bus to the High School to see the show. It is fun and exciting to see some of the friends we have made at Brown on the big stage. Ask your child which acts he/she liked best. We like to consider being in it ourselves in the future. Actually our own Emerson is in the show playing the piano. We can't wait to cheer him on 😀.
The show is at the SJHS at 6:00 pm for parents and families.
