Our Christmas trees look beautiful in our hallway. Thank you for helping your child decorate it. There is still time, so please feel free to hand it in any day this week. It will come home with your child on Friday.

Thank you for your attention to sending your child with appropriate clothing for our cold days. Please check to be sure your child is able to put on all outerwear and zip his/her own jacket. Thank you for your help with this.

The next Reader’s Theater book, Baby Animals, came home last week. Please add it to your child’s collection and read, read, read!

Your child will come home with the Leader bag the night before his/her leader day. There is a notebook inside with directions for sharing both a snack with the class and a Show and Tell item. Please refer to the calendar in the back of your child's take home folder for leader and other important dates.

Due to allergies, please refrain from sending snacks that contain any kind of nut. Thank you!

We will snack in the morning each day. It is not necessary for you to send a snack with your child, as the leader provides it each day.  Thank you for sending a leak-proof water bottle with your child each day.

Next Week

Let's have fun and dress up this week. Please see the schedule above. This is completely optional.

On Wednesday, December 15th we will make Gingerbread houses in our room. Last

Friday I sent a note regarding this asking for donations to decorate our houses. If you are able,

please send your assigned item by Monday, Dec. 13th (so I can supplement if necessary).I am all set for volunteers for this project. Thank you to all who agreed to help us.

Wednesday morning we will have the opportunity to watch the 3rd grade's version of

The Nutcracker. This is always so fun for everyone. Be sure to ask your child about this after school

on Wednesday.

Friday, December 17th we will have our Winter/Holiday party after lunch. Our school schedule has

changed for the day so afternoon now works better. The committee is working to make this a fun and

memorable day for our kindergartners.

I will send the January Leader calendar and the Homework calendar on Friday. There will not be an updated

Blog next week.

We will begin sending home the students' Chromebooks after the Holiday break. All are excited to begin

this. More to come on that in January.

I consider all my students to be such wonderful gifts! I look forward to spending my days with them and

learning from each other. Enjoy your time together over the holidays and I will see everyone next year ☺.

Have a wonderful Christmas and a very Happy New Year!

Week of December 6th

Kindergarten Connection

Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa

Last Week

Again, the new playground was a very big deal last week! It is finished!! If you haven't seen it, please take a minute to take a look. It is spectacular and we love it! As always, feel free to come play on it over the weekend if you would like to try it out yourselves. 😀

The students began the diagnostic test in a program called IXL last week. Our plan is to finish it this week and begin using this for math practice. It is a great reinforcement for solidifying skills taught in class. The end of the week I will send information regarding how to logon to this from home. I will also send directions for our class Seesaw account. Seesaw is used for reinforcement in all subjects and also is loads of fun.

Next Week

December 6-10-Brown School Library Book Fair. Great books at great prices available. There will be a Family Night on Monday, December 6th from 5:30-7:30 in the Media Center. Students may purchase books during their regular library time as well.

It’s that time of year again! The Student Council invites you to fill Santa’s sack to help those less fortunate by donating to Toys for Tots. Classrooms will be collecting donations Monday, December 6 through Friday, December 10. The two classes that bring in the most donations will receive a pizza party with Silver Beach Pizza courtesy of Chris Thompson at The Mitten Insurance Agency. Donations must be new, unwrapped toys and could be for a wide age range. All donations will stay local here in the Benton Harbor/Stevensville/Saint Joseph area. We appreciate all of the support in years past and look forward to another great Holiday season. Thank you for the help.

Our next Guest Reader, Mrs. Van De Wege will arrive at 3:20 on Wednesday, December 8th. Please bring 2-3 books with you

to read. There are many open dates on the schedule. Please find one that works for you on the Guest reader document I have

shared with you. (If you can’t find it, please ask) DeLapa Guest Reader Sign Up Sheet

I can tell that some practicing of putting on and taking off outerwear has been happening at home. Thank you so much

for taking the time to do this for/with your child. Please label all clothing items of your child's.
